Mutahida Qoumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar said the MQM chief Altaf Hussain took President Pervaiz Musharraf into confidence before his last trip to India. In a TV interview, Sattar was asked if he would confirm Altaf visited India, and the media presented him as an envoy of President Musharraf, Farooq Sattar said there was no formal appointment as envoy. But he took President Musharraf into confidence before his trip to India.

The President had asked him to advocate Pakistani interests, besides talking about his stance. He said Altaf fought the case of Kashmiris with full vigour and termed Kashmiris part of Kashmir dispute.

Farooq Sattar clarified the reported statement of Altaf Hussain in India regarding the two-nation theory. He said two-nation theory was another thing and formation of Pakistan and India in sub-continent was another thing. Altaf had not talked about undoing of partition.

On the question that Altaf Hussain criticised General's rule but at the same time said the present government was better than the previous governments, how would you comment on that condition? Farooq Sattar said he (Altaf Hussain) had already said earlier, the worst kind of democracy was better than the best dictatorship. Therefore, Altaf Hussain was against staging a drama of uniform for removing one person, he contended.
